MagicStudent

MagicStudent is an AI tutoring and resource center for students that was launched in March 2024 and complements MagicSchool, which is for teachers.  The options for student interaction are vast (see the list at right, which is not everything, and was taken from MagicStudent as of 3/19/24) and growing--and each teacher is able to choose which resources to make available to each class taught, and can easily change that at any time.

The announcement launching MagicStudent said it "will be available free to all users until at least July 1st, 2024".  If there is a cost after that, district pricing will probably be available.

Compliance with privacy expectations and requirements, especially with respect to student data, is a requirement of any solution to be used with students. MagicStudent says they are "FERPA and COPPA compliant and will have many safeguards in place to ensure that students are kept safe while using the platform".  Still, it is not clear that the process for student access to the tools is compliant with student data privacy requirements in most states--this needs to be checked state by state.  As an example, MagicSchool does not show up as compliant on the Educational Software Hub for the State of Connecticut (you will need to create an account and sign in to search the Hub).

MagicSchool offers a well organized set of Professional Development resources, and give their own certification for completion of some of them, including one specifically for MagicStudent.
