William (Bill) Clyde, Ph.D.
Dr. William Clyde retired from Manhattan College in December 2023, after having served as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs from July 2010 until June 2020, Professor of Economics and Finance from July 2020 through June 2022, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President from July 2022 through June 2023, and Special Advisor to the Provost from July 2023 through December 2023.

While Provost, Bill collaborated with other vice presidents and led the academic deans, institutional research and assessment, all academic support services, the library, and information technology to build new academic programs and student support services resulting in significantly increased enrollment and record-setting retention.  He also led a dramatic increase in the collection, organization, and analysis of data to inform decision-making, transformed the strategic planning process to increase inclusiveness and accountability, broadened participation in advancement activities contributing to a significant growth in gifts and grants, and fostered an entrepreneurial culture that empowers innovation across campus.

Dr. Clyde has served on the Board of Union Community Health Center in the Bronx since 2011, chairing it from 2016-2021, and has served on the National Advisory Board of the Salvation Army since 2018 and as an inaugural member of the Salvation Army World Services Office (SAWSO) Advisory Council since 2023.
 
Prior to his appointment at Manhattan, Dr. Clyde served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Queens University of Charlotte from July 2007 through June 2010. While at Queens, he served on the boards of Discovery Place and the World Affairs Council of Charlotte.

​Before joining Queens, Dr. Clyde was at Quinnipiac University from 1990-2007, where he held the positions of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, founding Dean of the College of Professional Studies, and founding Dean of Academic Technology, all after having earned tenure and the rank of professor of finance.
 
Dr. Clyde moved to Quinnipiac University having spent several years as a trader and corporate advisor in the foreign currency markets, most recently as Vice President at First National Bank of Chicago (now part of JP Morgan Chase). He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Edinburgh University, a M.S. in chemistry from New York University, and a B.A. in economics and chemistry from DePauw University. His research has included work on chaos theory, technical analysis, options market efficiency, financial engineering, COVID, Modern Monetary Theory, and learning theory. Dr. Clyde has taught classes in the areas of macro and micro economics, securities and portfolio analysis, financial statement analysis, international finance, and financial markets and institutions.
